Healthy Snacks On the Go – LÄRABAR (WFMW)

Healthy Snacks On the Go – LÄRABAR (WFMW)

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of LÄRABAR for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

The next few weeks are going to be a bit crazy for me.  We’ve been meaning to get carpet in the upstairs of our house for a few years, and we’ve finally decided to just go for it.  It’s a pretty big project, though, and to make things worse, we are also in the process of rearranging, spring cleaning, and painting at the same time.  Just typing it all out is making me tired.

At the same time we are getting carpet measurements and moving around furniture, we’ll also be celebrating a few birthdays in the family (including my hubby’s) and I’ll be headed to New York City for a few days in there, too!

So, needless to say, my time in the kitchen has been a bit limited. I love to cook and bake everything we eat from scratch, and there are some times when I can pull that off… Right now, however, I have to be realistic, and realize that something’s got to give.

Right around the same time that things started getting crazy, I was offered a free case of LÄRABAR samples. To be honest, I almost declined.  I like to make homemade granola bars and other healthy snacks, and I’m not usually into “trendy” health foods.

Thank goodness I decided to do a bit more research… As I looked into the details on Larabar.com, I discovered that their bars are made from non-GMO whole foods (all natural, no preservatives or junk) and the ingredient lists are surprisingly short (from 2 – 9 ingredients) and very easy to understand.  I know what dates and cashews are… In fact, I keep them in my pantry! I was sold… If I don’t have time to bake from scratch myself, I am happy to substitute products that are just as healthy (if not more healthy) and made with quality ingredients.  That works for me!

In addition to being made with top notch ingredients, they also cater well to sensitive diets.  The bars are gluten free and Kosher.  And, many of the bars (except for the ones containing chocolate chips – natural chocolate chips made with fair trade chocolate, I should add) are also dairy free, soy free, and vegan.

You might be thinking, “All of that is great, but how do they taste?”  Well, I think they taste great… But, really you should be asking my husband.  He’s been devouring them ever since I set the box down in the kitchen.  I had to keep reminding him not to eat them all because I needed to try a few (and take photos!).  He has enjoyed them as snacks and even took one along on his 12 mile run this weekend for some fuel for the trail.  While he isn’t one to go into fancy culinary descriptions of the food that I serve him, he does know what he likes… And, he has eaten almost the entire box of LÄRABARs!

I’ll be adding LÄRABARs to my list of go-to healthy snacks… I fully intend to keep making my own homeamde snacks, but we all know that there are weeks where that’s just not an option.  And, I really think LÄRABARs are a great option for those busy weeks!  You can be sure I’ll have one (or two) tucked into my bag when I am traveling to New York City next week.

If you are interested in trying LÄRABARs for yourself, you will most likely find them in the natural/health food section of your local grocery store.  That’s where I found them! I think they are priced pretty reasonably (about $1 – $2 per bar, depending on the store and your location), but I’ve also got a coupon for $1 off of two bars…  So, be sure to get your LÄRABAR coupon!

  4. I have been eating Larars for years – love them. We don’t get the great variety you do here but I like to stock up in the states!

  5. My family has loved Larabars since we discovered them a few months ago. We loved them even more after finding out how many flavors they had when we found them at Earth Fare. Of the ones we’ve tasted, the cocnut ones are are favorite, followed by lemon.
