Today, I thought I’d take the opportunity to wish you and your family a very happy Thanksgiving!
I love to cook and bake for the holidays. I will be doing some baking and preparing the sweet potatoes, but I’m not the one preparing the turkey for our Thanksgiving dinner this year. I couldn’t go without making a few turkeys of my own, though… Turkey cookies, of course!
Isn’t that what you would have done? Yup, I thought so! How could I not make some turkey cookies for Thanksgiving?
I’ve actually been meaning to decorate some turkey cookies for a few years. In addition to the turkeys, I threw in some mini acorn cookies while I was at it!
I made my standard vanilla bean sugar cookies. They are always a favorite with my friends and family! Plus, I think the real turkeys would thank me for making cookies instead of roasting the real thing.
I didn’t really have a design in mind when I was decorating the cookies. I just had a turkey cookie cutter that I knew I wanted to use. Since I was doing them for fun, I decided to just wing it and mixed up some brown, orange, and red icing… It seemed like the perfect color scheme for some Thanksgiving turkeys! I decided to play around with some polka dots, and here’s how they turned out…
Grab a cookie, sit down to watch a parade (or maybe some football), have a great day with your friends and family, and most of all…
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Gorgeous cookies… you are a pro! Beautiful pictures too… it can be tought to take pics of a station cookie laying flat on a table. But you made it look gorgeous!
