After my Black Friday adventure of shopping in the malls and stores with all of the other crazy shoppers, I’m usually ready to settle in at home for a few days. After Black Friday, I usually have a weekend of cleaning, decorating, and enjoying time with my hubby. By Monday, the reality of my Christmas list has usually started to creep up on me again. So, like much of the world, I start doing some online shopping. They don’t call it Cyber Monday for nothing, right?
So, since many of you may be ready for a break from the kitchen after Thanksgiving, I thought I’d do something a bit different today. I won’t be sharing a recipe, but I will be sharing a few of my holiday gift giving recommendations and tips so that you can make some progress on that holiday list. Whether you’re looking for ways to spruce up your homemade gifts, shopping for the foodie on your list, or just looking for some fun gift ideas, you’ve come to the right place!
Find that Special Gift for your Favorite Foodie…
For the Baker
If you’re looking for the perfect gift for the baker on your list, you can’t go wrong with the KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Quart Stand Mixer. I use mine on a regular basis and don’t know what I’d do without it!
Of course, it’s available in lots of other lovely colors like blue, white, and silver. You can find the perfect color to match your favorite baker’s kitchen, but the red is my favorite!
For the Caffeine Addict
Last year I gave my husband this Cuisinart Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to wake up to freshly ground and brewed coffee in the morning.
I have been craving a Bialetti Stovetop Espresso Maker for a while. If you don’t want to go all out with an automatic espresso machine (which can be pretty pricey), the stovetop versions are great for the fancy coffee lover on your list! Plus, they don’t take up nearly as much counter space.
Last year for my birthday, my husband gave me this Imperia Pasta Machine for me. I used it to make a big Italian feast for my friends and family, and I have been loving it ever since.
I especially love making my own homemade ravioli. You can’t go wrong pairing the pasta machine with a Norpro Ravioli Maker and Press.
If your favorite foodie likes to read, there are quite a few great books out there. One of my favorites from the past year has been Michael Pollan’s In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto.
Anyone who loves to cook and bake will surely love Michael Ruhlman’s Ratio: The Simple Codes Behind the Craft of Everyday Cooking. I read the book cover to cover when I first bought it, and it has since earned a permanent spot in my kitchen because it serves as a great reference when developing my own recipes.
Gift Ideas for Everyone On Your List…
Add a Special Touch to Homemade Gifts
Why not add a decorated cookie to your homemade gift baskets this year? You can write names on the cookies and use them as gift tags. Who wouldn’t love an edible gift tag? Be sure to choose a cookie cutter that leaves lots of room for writing like a Christmas Tree Cookie Cutter or a Mitten Cookie Cutter.
Who doesn’t love receiving home baked goodies around the holidays? Make your baked goods extra special this year with some pretty “accessories.” Some of my favorites include Tulip Baking Cups (aren’t the red ones beautiful for the holidays?) and Loaf Pan Bake & Gift Papers. Wrap in a clear bag and add a pretty ribbon and a gift tag and you have a lovely gift to give!
Magazines
You can’t go wrong with magazine subscriptions as a holiday gift. Magazines are one of those gifts that keeps on giving throughout the year! Foodies and non-foodies alike will love having fresh new recipes to try throughout the year. There are magazines for every type of cook – magazines containing quick and easy dinners, gourmet recipes, baking ideas, and more. A few of my favorites (especially for foodies) are Bon Appétit, Fine Cooking, Real Simple, and Taste of Home.
Cookbooks
Just like magazines, cookbooks make great gifts around the holidays. There are lots (and lots!) of amazing cookbooks to choose from. Some of my must-haves this year include Flour: Spectacular Recipes from Boston’s Flour Bakery + Cafe, Gluten-Free Girl and the Chef, Perfect One-Dish Dinners: All You Need for Easy Get-Togethers, and Desserts 4 Today: Flavorful Desserts with Just Four Ingredients.

Just got this link from Daydreamer Desserts! What a great find. I’m bookmarking the products for tomorrow. Something to look forward to at the end of the day.
Fun ideas Jen! I hope to find some good deals today too. I need to get going on my Christmas shopping!
Love all of these gift ideas! Thanks for sharing them!
Great list Jen! I would like everything here! :)
A great list Jen – so much good stuff!!
Great round up of gifts. I love my copy of Ratio as well!
Fabulous ideas!!
I just wanted to brag that my Christmas present came early this past weekend. A 6-quart professional Kitchen Aid mixer. I haven’t used it yet as it’s still up on its pedestal where I admire it hourly.
What a great list of foodie items! I’d take one of everything, please!
