This week, I am going to stray a bit from my usual Friday Favorites post. While I read plenty of wonderful blog posts this past week, I thought that it would be fun to change it up a bit and draw your attention to some great blogs that are supporting one of my favorite causes – the Share Our Strength.
If you have followed my blog for a little while, you probably know that I hosted a bakesale back in May. I was really excited to have the opportunity to make a difference doing something that I absolutely love – baking! When I first saw a commercial for the SOS Great American Bake Sale on the Food Network, I knew it was something that I wanted to participate in. So often it seems that many people identify a need in the community/country and want to make a difference, but feel that they don’t know where to start or don’t think they have the resources to really be effective. That is what is so great about the GABS. If you can afford to mix up a batch of cookies, you can help fight childhood hunger in America – pretty amazing! And, 100% of the money you raise goes to fight hunger.
Since my bake sale, I have been excited to continue to support and participate in Share Our Strength events. Last night I participated in the #SOSFood chat on Twitter. By adding the hashtag #SOSFood to each tweet, food bloggers from around the world were united to discuss their love of food and blogging, while helping to raise money for the GABS. It was a great way to meet new bloggers and also get tips from some successful and experienced food bloggers. Since I started my blog in January, I have been amazed by how friendly and helpful the online food community is. I have met some wonderful people and felt welcome in groups of cooks, chefs, and writers that I admire and look up to – and last night’s chat was no exception! Be sure to visit the official site and check out the transcript from last night’s event and consider donating!
So, in place of listing my favorite blog posts this week, I thought I would introduce you to the wonderful hosts of last night’s #SOSFood chat!

Hi Jen,
Great to meet you online during the #SOSfood chat last night. It was so much fun socializing with fellow food bloggers through Twitter and knowing that it was for a worthy cause made the experience all the better. Nice post!

Jen, I think this Friday Favorite’s was great! And anyone who comes to your blog will be persuaded to donate money for the children.
I think this was definitely worth making into your Friday Favorites!
P.S. Wasn’t that chat fun? I would love to do it again! It was fun to meet the “rest” of the blogging community that we haven’t met before…
Jen-
Last night’s #sosfood was great. I learned so much in such a short period of time…I would love to do it again!
Great to meet you via the chat! And I love your soy latte panna cotta – great idea.
