Friday Favorites – Episode 17

It’s Friday again, which means it’s time for me to pick my favorite blog posts of the week. I enjoy settling in each evening to read all of the new blog posts in my RSS reader.  I start to feel sad when I run out of new posts.  This week, however, there seemed to be an abundance of wonderful blog posts… I had trouble picking just a few favorites!

• I knew this Zucchini Parmesan Hummus from In Jennie’s Kitchen would be in my Friday Favorites this week before it was even posted!  I saw a tweet about it this morning, and I knew I would have to make it. This is a creative new recipe for those of you have lots of zucchini from your gardens, CSA shares, and farmer’s markets.
• I love chocolate. Now that we’re on the same page, you will understand why I love these Brownies from Spork or Foon.  Not only are they made of chocolate, but they also have a beautiful mint stripe through the middle like an Andes mint!  While I think these would be great any time of the year – they also seem like perfect holiday treats for Christmas (yes, I’m excited about Christmas and it’s only July).
• While we’re talking about chocolate, I have to mention this Good-For-You Chocolate Pound Cake from Mom Central Food.  When I first saw this cake in my RSS reader, I almost skipped over it because the cake looked so delicious in the picture that I just knew it had to be bad for me.  Imagine my surprise when I noticed that it’s actually fairly healthy!
• Finally, I wanted to draw everyone’s attention to the Flavor-Of-The-Month being hosted by Bake at 350.  This month’s challenge is pie…  So, put on your apron and start rolling out those pie crusts!

I also have to thank Kamran over at The Sophisticated Gourmet for the Kreativ Blogger award!  It comes with a whole list of rules, which I will do my best to fulfill in the next few days! In the meantime, be sure to head on over to Kamran’s site and check it out…  He’s making some pretty tasty dishes and he’s only 17.  I have a suspicion that we will be seeing a whole lot more of his cooking in the future.  In the meantime, you will most likely find him on the FoodBuzz Top 9!
