Upon examination of the pizza wheel in my gadgets drawer, I came to the conclusion that it was time for an upgrade. My pizza wheel was three or four years old (not that there’s anything wrong with that!). The age alone was not the issue. It does, however, shed some light on the root of the problem – it was purchased pre-kitchen addiction.
At the time of purchase, neither my husband nor I had any intention of using our pizza wheel for anything other than the occasional frozen pizza. We did not consider quality or construction – instead, we probably just picked the cheapest one we saw in the baking aisle at the grocery store. Three years later, I often make homemade pizza for dinner, and the old pizza wheel just doesn’t make the cut!
So, faced with choosing a new pizza wheel to add to my kitchen collection, I looked at the following characteristics:
Stainless steel blade to ensure a good cut through any crust
Easy to clean design that does not have hidden, unreachable areas to trap food bits
Soft grip handle that doesn’t slip and slide when cutting (that could be dangerous!)
Eventually, I settled on the 4-inch Black Stainless Steel Pizza Wheel by OXO. So far, I am happy with my purchase. Just last night, I made pizza for dinner, and the new pizza wheel performed to my expectations. I believe it will have a place in my gadget drawer for many years to come!
Love the blog! I even recognized the wrapped bake goods!
Are you going to do a feature on biscuits for Yellow Dog? Bo made the requiest!
Will keep checking back!
That is a great idea! I will have to feature some dog treat recipes – Yellowdog will have to figure out which ones are her favorites!
